Tennis

Love—it is not only the score at the beginning of a tennis match but also what I have for the sport. Through countless hours of intense training, high pressure matches, and teamwork, I gained the confidence to accomplish whatever I set my mind to. Because of this sport, I developed the passion, discipline, and endurance to power through any obstacle and become a strong, resilient person.

I began tennis in 7th grade, made the junior varsity class as a high school freshman, and advanced to varsity as a junior. Through practicing every day and conditioning four times a week, I physically became a much stronger person. Playing matches with different opponents of all levels at tournaments helped me develop mental toughness as well. While tennis is more of an individualistic sport compared to others, I still acquired a great amount of teamwork skills as I was part of the Centennial Titan Tennis Team. When I was not playing, I was cheering my teammates on. While I appreciated the fact that I had complete control over the speed, placement, and spin on my shots as a singles player, I preferred playing doubles. I liked having a partner to high-five every time I hit a great shot, as well as someone to reassure me when I felt discouraged.

Tennis is my outlet, and I would not be the person I am today without it. It taught me how to work with a team, be confident with myself, and overcome adversity. I can definitely apply all of these skills to business and a variety of other aspects in my life.
